Red, white and blue. Everyone knows of these colors. Purple, green, orange, yellow and pink tend to be colors that we see every single day. The problem with these colors is that everyone knows about them and they are just basic. There are even second

ary colors that are created from when you mix two of the colors that are primary such as orange, green plus purple.

However, there are colors out there that you might not know anything about because to put it simply, they are just plain odd!

10. Malachite

This is a color that a lot of people might know but never have seen in person, or either they didn’t realize they were looking at Malachite. In order to get a dye that is green sometimes Malachite is used. Malachite is known as the basic green 4. It’s named Malachite because the vibrant green is from the carbonate mineral that is called Malachite and sometimes it’s called copper carbonate. Back in the 1800’s this kind of mineral would be used a lot for green paint because of it being lightfast plus varying in its color.

 

9. Gamboge

 

Have you ever looked at spicy mustard before? I mean, really looked at it? Gamboge is much like spicy mustard but it might be a tad darker. Gamboge gets its name from the gamboges tree because it’s known for the yellow resin which looks incredible.

 

8. Razzmatazz

 

You’ll find that razzmatazz is a very nice red-pinkish color and it might not be known to a lot of people because it was just invented back in 1993 by Crayola. You might be able to really get the attention of a woman with giving her something with this color in it because it’s something that you don’t see every day.

 

 

7. Fallow

 

Fallow is a very old color and it’s a color that is pale brown. However, while Razzmatazz might help when a lover over, Fallow might do just the opposite because it’s not considered to be a very pretty color. Indian countries plus in South Africa might know the color as Ravi brown.


6. Arsenic

 

When someone puts on this color maybe they are not having a good day. The color is for sure not a very happy one. Can you picture yourself telling the painter, “Please paint my walls with using arsenic”. No. The reason why is because the color is a dark grayish blue color. There are some clothes with this color in it that people might wear in the winter.

In Sweden you might find that this color is popular. It would

often be used for cottages and even for barns that are wooden. The color actually comes from Dalarna, Sweden from their copper mine that was in Falun. This color has been here since the 16th century and people still use it today.

4. Xanadu

 

Xanadu is a color that comes from the plant and its green gay. This color is very known in Australia. However, the story goes that the name is from Xanadu and that is a city that is ancient and in the inner part of Mongolia, China.

3. Caput Mortuum

 

People that might be into alchemy might know about caput mortuum. The word in Lain means dead head or either worthless remains. Caput Mortuum comes from a mixture of brown and purple colors and they were actually created from the iron oxide when the rust gets oxidized. The color is popular and used in oil paints plus dying paper.

2. Feldgrau

 

The Germans would wear this color on their uniforms from 1907 to around 1945. The East German Army would wear this color with the post war uniforms. The color is gray greenish and it’s used a lot in uniforms related to the U.S. Army and while some people might have noticed the color, they might know the name of it and might have mistakenly just called it green.

The number one color that is weird but yet at the same time very known is the United Nations Blue color. This is a color that is like the Dodger blue color and it’s very pastel and not vibrant like the Dodger blue. The international organization known as the United Nations helped countries on a variety of matters such as social progress, human rights, economic development plus much more.
